GSIS to roll out P15K subsidy for STEM college freshmen

MANILA, Philippines – The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will launch a subsidy program providing ₱15,000 annually to qualified students pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses.
In a statement on Tuesday, GSIS said the subsidy will be available to incoming first-time college freshmen who obtained at least a 90-percent general weighted average in senior high school and are enrolled in identified STEM degree programs.

The program is open only to children of active GSIS members with permanent employment status, Salary Grade 15 or below, and up-to-date premium payments for the past three months.
A total of 1,000 slots will be available nationwide, with 20 percent reserved for Indigenous Peoples (IPs), solo parent families, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and other qualified groups.
“Through the GSIS Subsidy for STEM Program, GSIS reaffirms its commitment to helping provide quality education opportunities and empowering more Filipino learners to succeed in fields that drive innovation and national development,” the agency said. /pai INQ
