BankCom launches first self-service currency exchange machine at NAIA Terminal 3
San Miguel Corporation (SMC) affiliate Bank of Commerce (BankCom) has launched its first airport-based self-service currency exchange machine at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 Arrival Area, giving arriving passengers a fast, convenient, and secure way to convert foreign currency into Philippine pesos.

The automated kiosk, located at BankCom’s branch lite unit (BLU) – smaller, specialized branches designed to make retail banking services more accessible to the public –allows travelers to instantly exchange, initially, US Dollar, Euro, Japanese Yen, and Korean Won, into Philippine pesos–without lining up at teller counters.
The machine follows the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) rules on currency exchange and Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols, ensuring that all transactions are properly monitored and regulated.
“Bringing our first foreign currency exchange machine to the NAIA Terminal 3 arrival zone is a milestone for BankCom that will serve millions of travelers passing through the airport each year,” said BankCom President and CEO Michelangelo R. Aguilar. “It is designed to make foreign currency exchange more convenient and accessible for travelers, while helping us better understand customer needs and usage in a high-traffic airport environment.”
Beyond improving convenience for arriving passengers, the initiative also supports BankCom’s retail and treasury businesses by serving foreign tourists, balikbayans, and other travelers who need immediate peso conversion upon arrival.
Their transactions contribute to foreign currency inflows while strengthening the bank’s presence at one of the country’s busiest gateways.
The self-service currency exchange machine also complements BankCom’s BLU at NAIA Terminal 3, which handles account opening, cash deposits and withdrawals, and other over-the-counter transactions.
“We are committed to delivering modern banking solutions that meet the practical needs of Filipino travelers and global visitors alike. Our airport-arrival self-service machine is one example of how we are rethinking foreign currency exchange convenience in the digital age,” Aguilar said.
