DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr. said the outage stemmed from an “overwhelming” number of transactions being conducted simultaneously on the platform. He said it was not due to any hacking or data breach incidents.

“We have resolved the issue. We just need to expand our servers to ensure this will not happen again,” Almirol said.
