Ex-DOTr chief Bautista joins San Miguel unit as independent director

MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc. (SMFB) has elected former Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista as an independent director. The company also named Monica L. Ang as treasurer, following a special meeting of its board on Thursday.

In a disclosure, the SMFB said Bautista’s appointment takes effect immediately on Feb. 6, 2026. 

He will serve the unexpired term of Ferdinand K. Constantino, who earlier stepped down as board member and treasurer effective Jan. 31.

Bautista, 68, brings extensive experience in transport, aviation and corporate management. 

He served as Secretary of transportation from 2022 to 2025 and previously held top posts at Philippine Airlines, including president and chief operating officer. 

Bautista has also served as director of several listed and private firms across the logistics, communications and tourism-related sectors.

SMFB said that Bautista currently holds 10 shares in the company.

In the same meeting, the board elected Ang as treasurer, concurrent with her roles as chief finance officer and chief risk officer. Her appointment, also effective Feb. 6, allows her to serve the unexpired term of Constantino.

Separately, the board approved the declaration of regular cash dividends of P0.50 per share on outstanding common shares. 

The record date is set on Feb. 20, with the closing of books from Feb. 21 to 26. INQ
