Bloomberry sets foray into online gaming segment

MANILA, Philippines — Bloomberry Resorts Corp. is all set to launch its new online gaming platform within the next few weeks.

This will enable the firm to officially compete with market leader DigiPlus Interactive Corp.

“We are fully committed to pushing the performance of both our resort businesses and Solaire Online, even as we are focused on ramping our new online product, which will be launching in the coming weeks,” Bloomberry chair and CEO Enrique Razon Jr. said in a statement on Wednesday.

This came as the operator of Solaire Resort and Casino booked a 26-percent surge in its first-quarter net income to P3.3 billion, owing to a one-time gain recognized in February.

Without the P2.9-billion noncash gain from its loan refinancing, Bloomberry’s earnings would have plunged by 83 percent to P445.8 million, the company said. —Meg J. Adonis
