Manuel Pangilinan-led Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) and the Ayala Group will unite their digital health-care systems in a bid to boost accessibility and provide a unified ecosystem for Filipinos.

Metro Pacific Health Tech Corp. (mWell) said in a statement on Tuesday that it had fully acquired KonsultaMD, the flagship health-care platform of Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc.’s 917Ventures.

KonsultaMD will keep its brand while operating under MPIC management in the interim, according to mWell.

The takeover is also seen to complement MPIC’s health-care services under Metro Pacific Health Corp. (MPH), whose network has expanded to 27 private hospitals.

MPH recently took over City of General Trias Doctors Medical Center Inc., representing its 16th provincial acquisition and second in the province.

This brought MPH’s total hospital capacity to around 4,400 beds, 11,000 doctors and 16,000 health-care staff capable of caring for 4.1 million patients annually.
