The award coincides with significant milestones: the 100th birth anniversary of Henry Sy Sr., the late business magnate and founder of the SM Group, and SMDC’s 20th anniversary. Under Sy Jr.’s leadership, SMDC has transformed the Philippine real estate landscape by making homeownership more accessible, offering world-class yet affordable developments tailored to the needs of Filipino families.

In his acceptance speech, Sy emphasized the importance of service and his commitment to nation-building. “To serve the Filipino people is my greatest joy,” he said, quoting his father. He added that SMDC projects aim to provide more than just housing, focusing on creating communities that promote security, dignity, and opportunity.

The PropertyGuru Icon Award, the only individual accolade of the evening, recognizes Sy’s transformative leadership and his contributions to reshaping the real estate industry.

“This award is not just about personal efforts but a recognition of the dedication of everyone who shares this dream,” Sy said, expressing gratitude to his team and partners. He also credited his father’s legacy as the guiding principle in SMDC’s success.

As SMDC celebrates its 20th year, the company continues its mission to empower Filipinos through innovative and sustainable developments, solidifying Sy’s legacy in the real estate industry.
