Toyota PH pledges P5 million assistance to Kristine victims

MANILA, Philippines — Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) on Friday pledged P5 million to the national government to support relief efforts for victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

According to TMP Corporate Communications Lead Mon Umali, they will also donate Next Generation Tamaraw units to the Office of the President, which will be converted into ambulances.

“President Marcos received a letter of intent from TMP for its planned donation of five (5) Tamaraw units, which will be converted and turned over to the government in 2025. These include five ambulances which will be used to support various mobility needs of specific people focused programs under the Office of the President,” the TMP said in a statement.

Metro Manila and 24 other areas remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 due to Kristine, based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration’s 5 a.m. advisory.

Meanwhile, more than 2.6 million individuals nationwide have been affected by the calamity, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

It said a total of 569,524 families, or 2,656,446 persons, were affected by Kristine, of which 64,447 families, or 239,200 persons, were served inside 5,791 evacuation centers.
