Marcos approves franchise bid of Leyeco II
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved the franchise bid of Leyte II Electric Cooperative (Leyeco II).
Marcos signed Republic Act 12017 on August 9, which aims to ensure power supply in parts of the province of Leyte by approving the franchising bid of Leyeco II.

The law allows the electric cooperative “to construct, install, establish, operate, own, manage and maintain in the public interest and for commercial purposes, a distribution system for the conveyance of electric power to the end-users in the City of Tacloban and Municipalities of Babatngon and Palo, Province of Leyte.”
According to the Presidential Communications Office, Leyeco II was recognized by the National Electrification Administration in 2022 as one of the most outstanding electric cooperatives in the country.
