Traveller CEO’s retirement prompts shakeup in AGI

MANILA, Philippines — The retirement of CEO Kingson Sian from the company operating the Newport World Resorts after 16 years of service triggered management changes in parent company Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI) and another subsidiary, Megaworld Corp.

Travellers International Hotel Group announced the retirement of Sian effective June 1. Top officials Hakan Dagtas and Bernard Tan also left their posts as chief operating officer and chief financial officer, respectively.

Sian was at the helm when the joint venture between Andrew Tan-led Alliance Global Group and the Genting Group achieved success in building the country’s first integrated resort complex.

Following the development, Travellers appointed Nilo Thaddeus Rodriguez as president and CEO and Lance Gautreaux as chief operating officer.

Rodriguez, prior to his latest assignment, was the company’s chief strategy officer. He previously served as senior finance officer for several airlines, including flag carrier Philippine Airlines.

Gautreaux, meanwhile, joined Travellers as chief casino officer last year. Prior to Travellers, he was chief casino officer at The Venetian Las Vegas.

With Sian’s retirement, he also vacated his post as director, president and chief operations officer of Alliance Global.

Kevin Andrew Tan, who is the current CEO and vice chair of the conglomerate, is taking over.

New director

Tan, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Major in Humanities with a Professional Certificate in Management from the University of Asia and the Pacific, is also a director at Megaworld, Emperador Inc., Empire East Land Holdings Inc., Global-Estate Resorts Inc. (GERI) and MREIT Inc.

Megaworld appointed Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso as its new director following Sian’s exit.

She is also serving as the company’s chief operating officer and a member of the management executive committee.

Gutierrez-Alfonso, an accounting graduate from Far Eastern University, has been with Megaworld since 1990. She is a director in GERI and MREIT.
