SC lifts TRO on P17.3-B NGCP transmission project

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court has cleared the way for power grid operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) to complete the P17.3-billion, 500-kilovolt Hermosa-San Jose transmission line, deemed a critical energy project in Luzon.

This after the high court lifted the temporary restraining order (TRO) issued against the project, paving the way for completion by the middle of July.

“We are happy that the Supreme Court thoroughly studied the case and found no merit in the petitions filed against NGCP. This will enable us to complete the remaining portion of the [project], which will better serve the bulk generation coming in from Bataan,” NGCP said in a statement.

To recall, the SC ordered in July 2023 a halt to the expropriation of a portion of the Hermosa-San Jose transmission project owned by Phirst Park Homes Inc., a subsidiary of Century Properties.

The Hermosa-San Jose transmission line will accommodate power from new plants to prevent power interruptions in Luzon. INQ
