BIZ BUZZ: Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill comes to PH

Newport World Resorts is gearing up for the opening by the second quarter of next year of the Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill, the first in the Philippines and only the second in Southeast Asia after Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

It will have a huge footprint of 500 square meters at the second level of the Grand Wing of Newport World Resorts, easily making it one of the biggest nonhotel-run restaurants in Newport.

The Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill is the product of a partnership between the Gordon Ramsay group and a company created by Travellers International of the Andrew Tan Group.

It will offer a selection of rare breed steaks, grilled specialties and fresh market seafood, Newport says, along with the renowned British chef’s specialty, the iconic Beef Wellington.

According to Newport, the opening of Gordon Ramsay restaurant “cements the pioneer integrated resort’s place as a global gourmet destination.”

Newport Resources chair Kevin Tan added that the opening of the country’s first Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill “is part of NWR’s epic transformation.”

PH as a ‘sailing Mecca’

It’s often said that there are more people who climb to the summit of Mt. Everest than those who circumnavigate the world by boat. Being a nation of seafarers and blessed with enviable beaches and marine resources, the Philippines has all the potential to be a premier sailing destination.

Ayala-led Bank of the Philippine Islands, through its wealth management arm BPI Private Wealth, wants to do its part in catalyzing the sport of sailing with the launch of BPI Private Wealth Signature Yacht Race Series.

Touted as the “ultimate sailing adventure in the Philippines”, the exclusive series will feature four signature races starting Nov. 16 to 19 for the BPI Corregidor Cup. The series will continue with the following legs next year: BPI Busuanga Cup (Jan. 25 to 28), BPI Boracay 180 (Feb. 22 to 27) and BPI Subic Regatta (April 2 to 5).

BPI Subic Regatta comes on the heels of the famed Rolex China Sea Race 2024, a biennial race that takes competitors 565-nautical miles across the South China Sea to Subic Bay.

“This series is not just a showcase of our commitment; it is a testament to our dedication to enriching lives. supporting communities and fostering a sense of adventure that transcends traditional financial services,” said Tere Marcial, BPI Private Wealth president and CEO.

She shared the three-pronged vision for this series: help grow the local sailing community; help promote the Philippines as the finest sailing destination in Asia and in the world; and support marine conservation.”

Marcial, herself a skipper of her own boat, said this unique event would not only celebrate the beauty of the country but also help promote the Philippines “as a Sailing Mecca in Asia.”
