EEI unit, partner to develop electric vehicle charging system

MANILA  -Yuchengco-led EEI Power Corp. is set to develop an electric vehicle charging system through a new corporation after partnering with a cloud solution and service provider.

In a stock exchange disclosure on Friday, EEI Power, the power generation subsidiary of EEI Corp., said it would have a 40-percent stake in the new corporation that it would establish together with SysNet Integrators Inc. (SysNet).

The corporation is expected to provide software solutions and equipment for managing electric vehicle supply equipment.

SysNet, a 20-year-old company involved in building telecommunication products and other facilities, will develop and own the licenses and technologies of the charging system, according to EEI Power.

EEI Power recently partnered with electrical manufacturing firm International Wiring System (Phils) Corp. (IWSP) to construct a 1,008-kilowatt-peak solar rooftop system in Tarlac City.

The system will be composed of around 1,800 pieces of 500-watt solar photovoltaic (PV) panels that will provide at least 40 percent of the daytime load requirement of IWSP’s Building 6.

Apart from power generation, EEI Power is also engaged in retail electricity supply through its wholly owned subsidiary, EEI Energy Solutions Corp.

EEI Power has a 10-percent interest in PetroGreen Energy Corp., which is among the proponents of the 32-megawatt (MW) Maibarara geothermal plant in Batangas province; 20 percent in PetroWind Energy Inc.’s 36-MW Nabas-1 wind farm in Aklan; and 44 percent in the 50-MW Tarlac-1 solar PV power plant of PetroSolar Energy Inc.
