Petron rolls out small refillable LPG cylinders in Luzon
MANILA -Petron Corp. has launched a new refillable liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) product in Luzon to lessen consumers’ dependence on charcoal and firewood and prevent the illegal refilling of butane canisters for cooking.
The Fiesta Gas 170-gram refillable cylinders, similar to the size of a small insecticide container, were first launched in the Visayas last year and are now available in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, according to Petron.
It added that the cylinders, which have an aluminum alloy that can withstand high pressure, are compatible with LPG-rated portable stoves and grillers for cooking meat.
“By offering a convenient, safe and affordable solution, our new Fiesta Gas 170-gram refillable cylinders protect Filipino homes from unsafe, substandard and illegal butane canisters that are extremely dangerous,” Petron president and chief executive Ramon Ang said in a statement on Friday.
Petron also noted the cylinders were “environment-friendly” due to their reusable nature.
These can be returned to authorized Fiesta Gas dealers and retailers for refills.
Under Republic Act No. 11592, or the LPG Industry Regulation Act, LPG cylinders may only be refilled if these complied with Philippine National Standards (PNS).
