Eastern Communications boosts Zamboanga internet services

MANILA  -Eastern Communications has expanded its market reach with the launching of connectivity service in Zamboanga to support the internet requirements in one of Mindanao’s economic hubs.

The telecommunication player said in a recent statement that its connectivity, data and information and communications technology (ICT) solutions have been made available in Zamboanga.

“Twenty twenty-three is Zamboanga’s year and we want Filipinos in the area to know that our services are now within their reach. Through this expansion, we look forward to empowering more businesses, families and individuals through reliable connectivity and ICT services,” Eastern Communications co-coordinator Aileen Regio said.

“We are confident we can provide them with an avenue to help them connect with each other and the rest of the world and enable them to grow their businesses,” the official added.

The telco has been ramping up its presence across the country with the construction of the $150-million Philippine Domestic Cable Network (PDSCN), a project with Globe Telecom and InfiniVan Inc.

The subsea cable project has reached all of its 33 sites, including Iloilo, Bacolod, Boracay, Cebu, Siargao and Camiguin.

PDSCN is expected to “deliver connectivity crucial to the country’s recovery from the pandemic, as it will support government, education, business and even recreational needs for reliable communication facilities.”

This year, the broadband service provider jointly owned by PLDT Inc. and Globe has allocated P1.04 billion in capital expenditure to fund its expansion and rollout of fiber network services. INQ
