April vehicle sales speed up by 21.8%

MANILA  -Sales of automotive vehicles in the Philippines continued their double-digit growth for the fourth consecutive month this year in April, rising by more than a fifth from last year’s, keeping in pace with the country’s strong vehicle output seen during the first quarter of the year.

A joint report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association released on Monday showed that new vehicle sales reached 30,643 units, 21.8 percent higher compared with the 25,149 units during the same month in 2022.

The April posting puts the year-to-date sales at 127,927 units, which is equivalent to a 28.1-percent growth compared to the same four-month period last year.

“The improving economic indicators, which in fact remains favorable until the end of the year according to a government report, is an essential metric for the continued growth of the auto industry,” Rommel Gutierrez, president of Campi, said in a statement. INQ
