Cebu Pacific acquires new wings
MANILA -Cebu Pacific expanded its fleet with the delivery of another A320neo (new engine option) unit from international aircraft leasing company Avolon as it gears up for the momentum in air travel with the easing of border restrictions.
Avolon, in a recent statement, said it had recently sent the second A320neo to the low-cost carrier in accordance with their leasing agreement comprising the delivery of three aircraft.
The Gokongwei-led airline is set to receive the third unit this month. By then, Avolon will have 12 units on lease with Cebu Pacific.
The A320neo is a 37.57-meter aircraft with a cabin length of 27.51 meters and seating capacity for up to 180 passengers.
“We are also delighted to further strengthen our relationship with Cebu Pacific, supporting both the evolution of its fleet and sustainability objectives. It is great to see our customers in Asia increasing their fleet size to meet the high demand for travel in the region,” Avolon president and chief commercial officer Paul Geaney said.
“We are looking forward to completing this delivery order with Avolon, which will help further strengthening our position as one of Asia Pacific’s leading low-cost carriers,” Cebu Pacific chief strategy officer Alex Reyes said.
Earlier this year, Cebu Pacific said it was leasing additional five aircraft this year amid the growing passenger movement.
Three of the aircraft will be based in Clark International Airport. The remaining two aircraft, meanwhile, would “be used to support overall growth ambitions as Cebu Pacific recovers fully from the pandemic,” Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Xander Lao said previously. INQ
