Filipinos know Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) owing to its breadth of products that permeate their day-to-day life. The diversity of its portfolio is inevitable, what with the company pioneering the mixed-used concept in the Philippines.
Since its inception in the 1980s, RLC now boasts an impressive roster of property developments. This includes 52 malls, plus RLC Residences’ 85 condominiums and Robinsons Homes’ 40 subdivisions. Robinsons Offices manages 28 office buildings, while Robinsons Hotels and Resorts operates 5 hospitality brands servicing diverse demographics.
Robinsons Industrial and Integrated Developments Division take on 3 destination estates and 8 logistics and industrial facilities. In September 2021, amid the pandemic, RLC listed its flagship real estate investment trust (REIT), RL Commercial REIT Inc., on the Philippine Stock Exchange. It entered the local bourse as the largest REIT in the country.
Several of RLC’s products have carved their way into the very identities of the localities they belong. Others are making a mark among real estate experts and followers, hauling in recognition from various prestigious award-giving bodies. Recently, RLC Residences bagged three accolades at Lamudi’s The Outlook 2022: Philippine Real Estate Awards, one of which is the award for “Best Pandemic Pivot” which recognizes the company’s resilience and ability to adapt. The company also received nine citations at the 2022 Property Guru Philippines Property Awards, including the most coveted “Best Developer” plum.
All those achievements, RLC recognizes, would not have been possible if not for its people. That’s why it has invested in the advancement and well-being of its workforce.
That people-centric corporate culture has not gone unnoticed. A new feather in RLC’s cap is its inclusion among “The Philippines’ Best Employers 2023,” an exclusive ranking developed by Statista and Inquirer. Results emerged from an independent survey taken by over 11,000 employees from companies with Philippine operations and employing at least 250 people. RLC and a handful of other companies rose above upwards of 2,000 other employers.
This is no one-off accolade. In the past, RLC and other members of its conglomerate were feted for their valuable work in empowering a progressive workforce. RLC, for one, has now appeared twice on Bloomberg’s Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which tracks female leadership and talent pipeline, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and pro-women brand.
RLC debuted on the GEI in 2020. For 2022, it is joined by Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc., two other Philippine companies, and 414 more organizations from around the world. Women account for some 57 percent of RLC’s total workforce. They also comprise the majority of RLC’s management base, fulfilling leadership roles across all levels of management. Not only that, 7 of 10 employees at RLC and its affiliate companies are millennials, a pool that will help the even younger Gen Z-ers ease into the RLC workplace.
