NLEx Corp. donates 1,000 boxes of goods to jeepney drivers, others hit by floods

MANILA, Philippines—Tollroad operator NLEx Corp. said it donated close to 1,000 boxes of food and essential items to medical front liners, jeepney drivers and communities hit by recent flooding.
It said 450 boxes of rice, grocery goods, and items like alcohol and face masks were given to jeepney drivers plying routes in North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) open and closed systems in Caloocan City, Bulacan, and Pampanga.
The aid also reached drivers plying the routes Meycauayan-Monumento, Marilao-Monumento, Sta. Maria-Monumento, Malolos, San Fernando, Dau, and Angeles.
The company said 150 boxes of food and medical supplies were given to 35 communities, benefiting around 1,000 families hit by flooding in Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Bataan.
Moreover, almost 300 boxes of snacks for vaccinators were also distributed to 13 local government units in Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Bataan.
“We recognize the vital role of our jeepney drivers in providing mobility to our medical frontliners and individuals working amid the pandemic,” J. Luigi L. Bautista, NLEx Corp. president and general manager, said in a statement.
“We likewise acknowledge the efforts of our vaccinators who assist in the country’s vaccination program against the dreaded virus,” he said.
“They all need our assistance including the members of our host communities who have been struck by disasters,” he added.
Earlier this year, the tollway company also joined the cause of community pantries and distributed food donations in barangays covered by its expressway network. NLEx Corp. is a unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.
