Shipments of gaming PCs and monitors set new records in 2020, growing 26.8% year-on-year to a total 55 million units. And the trend looks set to continue in the same direction, with shipments forecast to reach up to 72.9 million in 2025.

Of the year’s 55 million gaming PC and monitor shipments, notebooks account for over 40% of the market, with 24 million units shipped, ahead of desktop PCs (16.7 million) and monitors (14.3 million), according to data from IDC.

These healthy figures are largely driven by the COVID-19 pandemic and its resulting lockdowns and restrictions. With more time being spent at home and less spent outside, many gamers took the opportunity to invest in new PCs or monitors for their gaming setups.
