Wilcon Depot answers the call of “bayanihan” through continued relief efforts
MANILA, Philippines – In support of the fight against COVID-19, Wilcon Depot, the Philippines’ leading home improvement and construction supply retailer, has been actively supporting several relief efforts that provide much needed assistance to communities and frontline workers during the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
Wilcon Depot strongly believes in staying united and committed to its corporate social responsibilities by quickly responding to the needed assistance concerning the current national health emergency. Like other big businesses who are doing their share of help, Wilcon has made its own efforts to fight against COVID-19 by supporting different relief measures.
Wilcon Depot has allocated Php25 million to Project Ugnayan, a collaboration among top business groups in cooperation with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF). The relief program aims to raise funds and distribute gift certificates and food packs that will benefit millions of poor families and communities in Metro Manila.
It has also provided immediate assistance to frontline healthcare workers by donating 16,000 personal protective equipments (PPE), 60,000 face masks, and bicycles through Go Negosyo in cooperation with Project Kaagapay: Protect our Healthcare Heroes. The medical equipment will be distributed to different hospitals across Metro Manila.
The company’s other relief efforts include an initial donation of Php20 million to support ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation and GMA Kapuso Foundation in their efforts to provide basic medical supplies for health and safety workers as well as supply food and other basic needs to poor families whose source of living has been affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
As the COVID-19 pandemic affects communities differently, Wilcon continues to cooperate with the government’s implemented guidelines by putting everyone’s safety and well-being a top priority.
