Techglobal Incorporated pledges free waterline pipes for all EQF sites

Never has the world seen a pandemic like this. Malls empty, hospitals full, deaths up, silent chaos creeps up our streets. However, courage, hope, and collaboration are also very much alive. As the country gears up for the worst, heroes emerge from every industry. No effort too small, no contribution neglected, everything we do counts right now.

With the national quarantine placing a halt to a lot of business operations, for members of our design and construction industry, it’s business as usual but for a different purpose. They are doing their part to overcome the crisis by doing what they do best: building.

A group of architects and suppliers have put their hard hats back on to build Emergency Quarantine Facilities (EQF). These are “instant structures” designed to significantly decongest hospitals and help out frontliners. EQFs can be used as isolation facilities for PUIs and PUMs, to make way for severe and critical cases to be prioritized inside hospitals. Construction of the 6×26 meter facility takes an easy 3-4 days to make and can house 15 patients comfortably, with two toilets to boot! The EQFs are meant to last 3 months or more until the government finds a much more permanent solution.

This project is a national effort spearheaded by Ar. William Ti of WTA Design Studio, Ar. Rebecca Plaza, and the UAP Metro headed by Ar. Jason Ang & Ar. Gary Chung. As of this writing, 60 and counting EQFs have been built or are close to completion, all spread throughout Mega Manila.

According to Ar. William Ti, the EQFs are being occupied immediately upon completion. “That’s how intense the demand is,” Ar. Ti points out. The initiative is at pace to build the same amount of beds that the government is making. Some are funded by organizations while some are completely made from donations from leading local suppliers such as Techglobal Incorporated (Vesbo Pipes)— the pioneer of PPR & HDPE Pipes in the Philippines.

Techglobal Incorporated (Vesbo Pipes) pledges to provide all water pipelines for all EQF sites. “We believe that the building materials industry should play their part in support of the Emergency Quarantine Facility (EQF) Initiative,” shares Aldrin Derrick Chua, the Director for Marketing of Techglobal Incorporated. Being in the industry for more than four decades, the company provides more than just pipes, they commit themselves in doing two things: to deliver safe and clean water to every household and pioneering new piping technology to make Philippine water lines and sanitary lines at par with other advanced countries. Techglobal Incorporated’s products have been trusted by their extensive clientele, a roster of who’s who in the development and depot industry.

EQFs are designed to take in persons under monitoring and persons under investigation.

So far the company has donated Php1.5 Million (and counting!) worth of materials to the 40 EQFs. The pipes being used in the EQFs are Techglobal Incorporated’s high-end line to assure the safety of the patients and frontliners. After all, clean potable water for handwashing and proper sanitation system is key to stop the spread of this virus.

Among their donations are the Vasen HDPE drainage pipes. They’re impact-resistant, UV-resistant, chemical-resistant, and entirely leak-proof, features that can help contain the spread of the coronavirus. Another of their latest innovations is also being used in the EQFs, the Vesbo Biocote Pipes are the first and only anti-virus and anti-microbial pipes in the country. Biocote is a UK firm leading in anti-virus and anti-microbial chemicals. With this new technology, water potability is very high, thus preventing contaminated water from being used by our frontliners and patients. “These are heavy-duty European-made pipes that are one of a kind in the country,” Chua shares. “The Biocote technology makes them the only anti-virus & anti-microbial pipe in the country. The pipes are also 100% leak-proof to prevent any sort of cross-contamination.”

Needless to say, these modern piping innovations are perfect solutions for today’s crisis. They will also be a highly demanded feature for builds when the world moves to the new normal post-COVID19. Smarter pipes mean cleaner environments, safer cities, and virus-free communities.

“We expect this crisis to affect our industry, there will be a slowdown in the build industry,” shares Chua, who is concurrently the Treasurer of United Suppliers of the Philippines. But right now that doesn’t matter to them, what matters now is they help by doing what they do best: providing quality pipes that saves lives.
