Manila, Philippines – March 30, 2020 – Mondelez Philippines extends heartfelt gratitude to its employees, business partners, and community partners for their actions to help those in need during the COVID-19 crisis in the country. Together with its employees and partners, the Company has been able to continue producing its food products and make them available for Filipinos to purchase. It is also working with various organizations to help bring food to hero health front liners and communities facing hunger.

Ashish Pisharodi, Country Director of Mondelez Philippines, said that “Our purpose and values as a company are rooted in doing what’s right for our colleagues, our customers and consumers, as well as our communities. Even as we collectively take decisive actions to help stop this pandemic, we also understand that the measures have an unintended impact on specific front-line professionals as well as on the more vulnerable sections of our society. We hope that our actions will help our local community partners in providing safety, security, and assistance for the people who need it most.”

Mondelez Philippines has already initiated work from home and other flexible working mechanisms to suit different employee roles and moved to skeletal operations in critical areas to get their food products on retail shelves. Ashish adds, “Our customers, communities and government are also looking to us, along with the rest of the food industry, to keep supply chains secure and food on shelves, so food does not become a scarce resource.”

Mondelez Philippines is currently empowering the community it engages with to get through this time. The Company, as well as its employees in their individual capacities, have pledged donations and other support, in cash and in-kind, for employees of its service providers who are unable to work right now and for the larger community.

Shares Ashish, “Indeed, we are stronger together. We know that when we work towards one goal with our partners, we are better able to create a greater impact on our community. For communities in danger of facing hunger, Mondelez Philippines is working with various organizations including the Philippine Business for Social Progress, Rise Against Hunger, ABS-CBN Foundation and the Philippine Red Cross to distribute food to communities in Metro Manila. Of course, our brave heroes working round-the-clock for us in hospitals also receive much-needed sustenance and food to continue their important work of saving the country.”
