Emperador nets P3.25B as brandy, whisky make a splash abroad
Tycoon Andrew Tan-led liquor-maker Emperador Inc. chalked up a P3.25-billion profit in the first six months, up by 2 percent year-on-year on robust international operations.
Emperador grew revenues by 10 percent year-on-year to P21.4 billion at end-June, the company said in a press statement on Thursday.
Emperador is now a leading global brandy company with its portfolio of Spanish brandy and sherry brands led by the iconic Fundador, as well as Scotch whisky brands led by Dalmore and Jura.
The first six months was described as “robust” for the international operations as Emperador continued to benefit from “premiumization” and globalization of its whisky and brandy portfolios.
Betting on growing global consumer affluence, Emperador is making a big push for premium brandy products while expanding its global branded malt business.
The company said Whyte & Mackay continued to grow in every region of the world with flagship single malt whisky product, Dalmore, enjoying strong sales in Africa, Canada, France, Germany, Greater Europe, Asia and the United States. Overall, Whyte & Mackay’s malt whisky portfolio was seen doing well including Jura, Fettercairn, Tamnavulin and Shackleton.
