Over two decades ago, an ordinary patient who was instructed to take a laboratory test would most probably be hard-pressed to comply with the doctor’s orders. Back then, lab tests were usually performed in hospitals at prohibitive cost. While there were other smaller laboratories offering the same services, the equipment used may not be updated and the test results were not a hundred percent accurate. Also, there weren’t too many independent labs available and accessible to the greater population.
