Docs on call: Ayala invests in booking app for health-care services at home

The Ayala Group’s health-care arm announced an investment in homegrown tech startup AIDE, an app that allows users a bevy of health-care services such as medical consultations and lab extraction and interpretation at home.

Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. said in a statement on Wednesday that the deal, the amount of which was not disclosed, was part of AC Health’s strategy to invest in innovative health technology solutions. It adds to AC Health’s growing portfolio that already includes Generika Drugstore and online pharmacy MedGrocer.

“AIDE is an excellent platform to connect patients with health providers, and we think home health will be one of the next game changers,” said AC Health president and CEO Paolo Borromeo.

The AIDE app was founded by the Bugayong siblings, Paolo, Pamela and Patrick. The siblings have backgrounds in finance, sales and medicine, respectively.

Paolo Bugayong, CEO of AIDE, said the partnership would help the company expand its reach in the country.

“For patients, we offer convenient home health-care booking, while for medical professionals, we are offering an innovate cost-effective avenue for their services. We aim to provide health-care solutions amid traffic and long lines, without needing brick and mortar,” Bugayong said.

The mobile app allows patients to book doctors, nurses and other medical professionals. Services include medical consultations, nursing care, physical therapy, caregiving and even veterinary care.
