MWCI forges Bulacan water venture
Manila Water Co. Inc., along with its subsidiary Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. (MWPVI), yesterday said they had secured a joint venture with Bulacan Water District (BWD) on a P400-million project in Bulakan town.
Manila Water said in a regulatory filing that BWD had granted them the opportunity to “design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, operation, financing, expansion, and management of the water supply system and sanitation facilities” in Bulakan.
“Upon completion of the conditions precedent specified in the notice of award, the consortium (the two companies) and BWD shall form a joint venture company to implement the project,” Manila Water said.
The contract period spans 25 years, during which the capital expenditure program is estimated at “more than P400 million.”
Also, the project is expected to rack up a billed volume of 16 million liters daily by the end of the contract period.
“The joint venture company could serve the airport being proposed to be built by San Miguel Corp. in the municipality of Bulakan,” the company added.
This follows last week’s announcement that Manila Water has also secured a similar engagement with the local utility of the neighboring town of Balagtas.
