Conglomerate Ayala Corp. is venturing into the artificial intelligence (AI) solutions business, drawing insights from an internal shared services hub to start offering to other corporations innovative technology to attain “digital workforce transformation.”

Ayala-owned HCX Technology Partners has signed an exclusive partnership with US-based Automation Anywhere Inc., the largest enterprise software provider in robotic process automation (RPA), to offer what they pitch to be “cutting-edge tools and best practices” that would enhance manpower productivity.

The Ayala group saw an opportunity to adapt emerging technologies to take over repetitive tasks, initially for human resources management, HCX chair John Philip Orbeta said in an interview on Wednesday.

The group rebranded an old company called HR Mall—which was created in 2006 and had been responsible for automating and centralizing payroll systems and solutions across the conglomerate—into HCX.

“Our role is to start looking at how we can use RPA and AI to take over a lot of repetitive tasks—how to make it easier for employees so that they won’t be distracted (from core functions),” Orbeta said. “Our intent is to be able to take over 60-80 percent of administrative tasks from human intervention.”

In the case of approving leave of absence, for instance, Orbeta said that for as long as an employee had available leave credits, then there’s no reason for the approval process to take a long time.

HCX will focus on automation of human resources functions for now but this doesn’t preclude the new technology unit to offer more services in the future.

“Digital disruption has shifted from a technological novelty to industry mainstream with the increasing adoption of RPA,” Ike Amigo, managing director of HCX, said in a press statement. “True to its name, HCX has partnered with the global leader in RPA, Automation Anywhere, to bring our country to the next level of the digital age through its digital workforce transformation solutions and services.”
