Hitachi hosts Social Innovation Forum 2017 Manila
Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, “Hitachi”) and Hitachi Asia Ltd. announced today that they will host Hitachi Social Innovation Forum (HSIF) 2017 MANILA today at Makati Shangri-La in Makati.
Through a hosted exhibition, business seminars and stage interviews at the forum, Hitachi aims to increase awareness of the company’s Social Innovation Business in the Philippines.
Mr. Joel Magbanua, Division Chief of Rail Transport Planning Division, Department of Transportation, will be representing Secretary Arthur P. Tugade, Department of Transportation, Republic of Philippines to grace the event as Guest-of-Honor. The event will introduce Hitachi railway solutions and present how it can contribute to improving the country’s railway systems and infrastructures. “We are able to provide safe, efficient and sustainable railway systems that are also environmentally-friendly. Railway has been drawing global attention due to its potential as a form of transportation infrastructure that can deal with many challenges faced by rapidly growing economies like the Philippines.”, said Mr. Mitsuhiko Shimizu, General Manager, Hitachi Asia Ltd. Philippine Branch. “Through the Hitachi Social Innovation Forum and the company’s Social Innovation Business, we aim to contribute to the Philippines’ growth trajectory in an inclusive and sustainable manner.”

Mr. Shinya Mitsudomi, Corporate Officer, Group Head of Sales and MD, Japan/Asia Pacific, of Hitachi, Ltd., Railway Systems Business Unit will discuss Hitachi’s contribution towards social innovation for over 100 years, its full product range, turnkey, operations, maintenance solutions, and its international footprint. He will also present the latest trends in the global railway industry, including future technologies on asset monitoring, IOT/analytics, and maintenance optimization that Hitachi Rail is spearheading.

This will be presented by Dr. Yoichi Sugita, Chief Lumada Officer, Hitachi, Ltd., Railway Systems Business Unit.
These presentations will be followed by a stage interview and Q&A on solutions for Philippine’s transportation problems, smarter maintenance and passenger flow solutions, ways to create synergy for total integrated railway system and more. This segment will be moderated by Mr. David Celdran, News Anchor, ABS-CBN Corporation.
In the 2018 Mid-term Management Plan, Hitachi targets to increase its overseas sales ratio to more than 55%. The Philippines will play an instrumental role in helping Hitachi achieve this target by focusing on energy management, railway and urban development solutions in addition to its high functional materials and ICT businesses.
