Big Mac Descriptions

Big Mac fans will rejoice when the Grand Mac and Mac Jr. join the legendary Big Mac roster for a limited time on McDonald’s national menu in early 2017. These twists on the famously delicious sandwich – which boasts two 100 percent all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun – are the latest menu innovations from McDonald’s that customers today are looking for.

The Grand Mac is made with two 100 percent pure beef patties for a total of one-third pound* with two slices of melty American cheese and iconic special sauce served on a larger sesame seed bun with crisp lettuce, California minced onions and tangy pickles. Each Big Mac patty is seasoned to perfection with salt and pepper in McDonald’s kitchens.

The Mac Jr. is a single-layer Big Mac that’s easier to eat on the go. The 100% pure beef patty is bigger and packs in all the flavor of the Big Mac without the middle bun.

“The Big Mac is a legend and a great-tasting burger with hints of pickle relish, mustard, garlic and onions,” said McDonald’s Chef Mike Haracz. “We listened to our customers who told us they wanted different ways to enjoy the one-of-a-kind Big Mac taste. The classic combination of ingredients remains timeless and customers around the world continue to enjoy its signature taste.”

Earlier this year, Central Ohio and Dallas/Fort Worth tested these burgers to gather valuable feedback from consumers. In advance of the national rollout, customers in Florida and the Pittsburgh area will be able to experience these new sandwiches before the rest of the country, beginning in mid-November.

The Big Mac was first introduced in 1967 by Jim Delligatti, a McDonald’s franchisee from Pennsylvania, and the following year was available nationwide. McDonald’s is continuously testing and innovating to meet its customers’ needs. Recent regional innovations include the Egg White and Turkey Sausage Breakfast Bowl, Scrambled Egg and Chorizo Breakfast Bowl, Lobster Rolls and Gilroy Garlic Fries.
