Cesar Purisima is Emerging Markets Finance Minister of 2011
London—Emerging Markets announced on Saturday that Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima had won the 2011 Emerging Markets Finance Minister of the Year Award for Asia.
The award recognizes Purisima’s “strong policy track record and steadfast commitment to maintaining economic stability over the past 12 months.”
“Secretary Purisima’s decisive action upon taking office to enforce greater fiscal discipline allowed the economy to grow strongly last year and to insulate it from heightened market sensitivity to sovereign indebtedness,” said Taimur Ahmad, editor of Emerging Markets.
“Secretary Purisima has been consistently clear in his policy intentions and has worked hard to ensure strong policy coordination,” he added.
The annual Emerging Markets Central Bank Governor and Finance Minister of the Year awards recognize the leading policymakers in each region.
