/ 02:15 AM March 31, 2015

ZUELLIG Group-owned Federal Phoenix Assurance Co. has changed its name to FPG Insurance Co., which will also be carried by insurers owned by the same mother company in Indonesia and Thailand.

“We are not just changing the name but we are taking a bold step toward regional integration,” said Ramon Dimacali, FPG president and CEO.

“We are integrating our skills, resources and systems—including that of our partners, agents and customers—in all the three countries. Our customers are going regional and we would like to go regional with them.”

FPG began as Federal Insurance in 1958. It changed its name to Federal Phoenix in 1986 when Phoenix Assurance bought a stake in the company. Since 2004, the company has been wholly owned by the Zuellig Group and has been known for its innovations in the industry such as the online settlement of motor car claims.

The Hong Kong-based Zuellig Group bought Asuransi Indrapura in 2012 and the 30-year-old non-life insurance firm of Chubbs Thailand in 2014. Both firms now carry the FPG Insurance brand.
