COA to host international audit meeting
MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Audit will host the 46th Governing Board Meeting of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) that will bring together Asian leaders in the field of government audit on February 17-21.
President Benigno Aquino III will be the guest of honor at the welcome lunch to be held at the Malacañang Palace on Feb. 18.
COA Chairperson Maria Gracia Pulido Tan said scheduled to attend are her counterparts from India, South Korea, Japan, Bangladesh, China, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Turkey to discuss international audit standards, transparency and other pressing issues in international audit.
“We are truly honored to be hosting this prestigious event,” said Tan. “Preparations are underway and it is our greatest desire to ensure that the Governing Board Meeting will be seamless and successful.”
ASOSAI is an international organization composed of the Supreme Audit Institutions of 46 member countries in Asia. It was established to promote professionalism, mutual support and understanding through capacity building, knowledge sharing and regional working groups.
Also expected to attend are the head of the Supreme Audit Institution of Norway as representative of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), as well as delegates from Brunei and the International Development Initiative.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Philippines had already hosted three ASOSAI board meetings. Tan was elected to the Governing Board at the 12th ASOSAI Assembly held in Jaipur, India on March 3, 2012.
The Philippines is vying for one of two spots on the INTOSAI board that will be decided at the Manila meeting.
