GMA 7 maintains lead in nationwide ratings

GMA Network Inc. continued to lead in total day nationwide television ratings, according to data from research firm AGB Nielsen.

Based on the numbers for the whole month of August, GMA 7 registered an average audience share of 34 percent in total day household audience shares in national urban Philippines ratings, 1.3 percentage points ahead of ABS-CBN’s 32.7 percent and 19.2 percentage points ahead of TV5’s 14.8 percent.

“In comparison with the previous month, GMA 7 was the only broadcast company whose total day household audience share across all areas (inclusive of the Visayas-Mindanao regions) increased in August,” the company said.

This was driven by improved shares in the evening block, where viewing levels were at their highest, the company said.

GMA 7 said its lead remained undisputed in all “day parts” in the important areas of urban Luzon and mega-Manila, which represented 77 percent and 59.5 percent of total urban television households in the country, respectively.
