5 reasons why all-new Mustang is car to love
Ford Group Philippines held a media presentation last Thursday to announce the pricing details and specifications of the much-awaited all-new Ford Mustang for the local market. The iconic American muscle car was actually first seen during the Manila International Auto Show last March at the World Trade Center. Inquirer Motoring gives a list of the five reasons why it’s a car to love.
It’s a slice of automotive Americana
It is the second-longest American running sports car label, next to the Corvette that debuted in 1953. The Mustang made its first debut on April 17, 1964, at the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York. Within its first year, Ford would sell units of 417,000 Mustangs and by March 1966, it had sold well over a million Mustangs. Five generations later, sales are still going strong, with a total of 68,650 Mustangs sold in 2011. The Ford Mustang is still proudly built in America, at its AutoAlliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Michigan.
It is one of Hollywood’s coolest cars
The Mustang made its first movie debut in the 1964 James Bond movie—Goldfinger. Two other James Bond sequels—Thunderball and Diamonds Are Forever—also featured a Mustang. Since then it has appeared in over 500 films and TV shows.

Cool apps and gadgets
The new Mustang has a cool 4.2-inch LCD screen that can be navigated through a five-way control button located at the steering wheel and offers Track Apps, showing real-time performance that measures g-forces, acceleration times in quarter-mile and 0-60 increments and displays braking times, complete with automatic and countdown starts. The Mustang also has the Ford SYNC, giving the Mustang owner a hands-free, voice-activated in-car connectivity. Ford’s award-winning system allows one to connect to almost any mobile phone or digital media player to the Mustang via Bluetooth. The driver is able to make hands-free mobile calls or play music via voice commands or with the steering wheel-mounted control, while keeping the eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. But wait, there’s more, both variants come with a Shaker Sound System that offers six speakers for a premium, stage-like listening experience.
The price
The Ford Mustang will be available in two variants—the 3.7L Mustang V6 Premium and the 5.0L Mustang V8 GT Premium with pricing is set at P2.499 million for the Mustang V6 Premium and P2.899 million for the Mustang V8 GT Premium. While orders are already being accepted in all Ford dealerships, customer deliveries will start in September. This is the fourth vehicle launched by Ford Philippines this year.
