It’s time to bring out the red carpet for the coming of the road’s newest “Star.”

FOG LAMP

Since the original Grand Livina was launched in 2008, it has become a symbol of a car with sleek and handsomely modern look. The newest iteration in the Grand Livina line is equally beautiful and now carries performance parts by Autech Japan, a group known for its expertise in race cars.

To launch the Grand Livina Highway Star, Nissan invited members of the motoring press (and some of their family members) in an event dubbed the “Nissan Family Fun Camp.” There, the media participants got to test the Highway Star in a drive to Thunderbird Resort in Rizal.

ALLOY WHEELS

“What fun is it to travel alone? With the Highway Star, we’d like to show that groups don’t have to be bothered by a big and bulky vehicle for an urban adventure. With this stylish sedan, they can now travel in style,” Junia said.

Here’s what Inquirer Motoring found out about the Grand Livina Highway Star during the hour-long drive from Nissan’s office in Ortigas to Rizal:

Exterior

REAR SKIRT

The Highway Star features chrome grille with horizontal elements and bumper fascia with integrated air splitters. It now sports side mirror cover with LED turning lamps, foglamp chrome garnish, OEM side skirt, rear skirt and roof spoiler. It also comes with 15-inch polished alloy wheels with gunmetal accents.

Performance

For high-quality functionality and flexibility, the Highway Star is fitted with Nissan’s new-generation gasoline engine, MR18DE 1.8L fuel injected power plant, which produces 126 ps/5,200 rpm and 17.9 kg-m/4,800 rpm maximum torque. The CVTC (continuously variable valve-timing control) keeps fuel economy at its peak while producing power and optimal acceleration.

Security Features

This stylish urban ride is packed with safety features including Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, zone body construction and supplemental system airbags. Ride stability is delivered by MacPherson, with a torsion beam rear axle that uses ripple shock absorbers.

The Highway Star’s suggested retail price starts below P1 million. The Luxury variant, which includes Autotech grille, front bumper and alloy wheels, as well as an LED side mirror and fog-lamp equipped front bumper, has a tag price of P928,000. The Elegance edition, on the other hand, is priced at P1.008 million. The latter includes side and rear skirts, as well as a roof spoiler.
