MANILA, Philippines–The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center has promised assistance to contractors, through trainings and workshops, in a move to encourage participation in the Aquino administration’s flagship infrastructure program.
PPP Center executive director Cosette V. Canilao urged members of the Philippine Constructors Association (PCA) to develop strategic alliances between local contractors and foreign investors.
Canilao, in her speech during the PCA General Membership Meeting last week, said that contractors should take advantage of opportunities for collaboration as the Philippines is considered a viable destination for investments in infrastructure particularly through PPP.
“We can provide you workshops and focused trainings that will cater specifically for contractors, the same way that we train our local governments on the PPP process,” Canilao said in her speech which was posted on the PPP Center website.
The PPP Center has set regional orientation workshops to aid local government units with technical and practical skills in developing local PPP projects.
The workshops are in collaboration with the National Economic and Development Authority and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
In the next four months, workshops will be held in Western Visayas, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Mimaropa, Northern Mindanao, Ilocos, Zamboanga, Cagayan Valley and Socksargen.
