Hong Kong stocks open down 1.16 percent

Hong Kong–Hong Kong stocks opened down 1.16 percent percent on Friday after sharp falls on Wall Street as investors digested disappointing economic data from China and Europe.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 223.48 points to 19,041.59 in the first few minutes of trade.
