MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. has generated P1.2 billion in benefits, including additional revenue and cost savings through its in-house artificial intelligence (AI) investments.

In a statement, the Ayala-backed telco said its generative AI and AI-machine learning initiatives yielded a 2.8-times return on investment based on its initial enterprise-wide measurement.

The telco has used AI to tailor customer offers and experiences across Globe Rewards, roaming, lending, and postpaid services.

Another P368 million came from cost avoidance, particularly through AI deployment across finance, customer engagement, marketing technology, and order management services.

AI-powered automation also saved more than 52,000 work hours, which Globe valued at P28 million in productivity gains.

“The real measure of AI is not how many people are using it, but what it actually improves. We want to see it translate into better experiences for our customers, more intelligent ways of working for our people, and tangible results for the business,” Globe president and CEO Carl Cruz said.

“That is why we are putting greater discipline around measuring the value AI creates,” he added.

Amid the AI boom, Globe has also been ramping up investments in its data center arm, ST Telemedia Global Data Centers (STT GDC) Philippines.

Cruz told Inquirer in an earlier interview that STT GDC expects to reach about 30 to 32 megawatts (MW) of operational capacity by year-end and will fully utilize it.
