Visayas grid remains vulnerable to brownouts
MANILA, Philippines — The Visayas grid continues to grapple with thin electricity situation, with new power alerts up on Monday.
In an advisory, the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines said a red alert status would take effect from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The grid would also be under a yellow alert from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
About 818.9 megawatts of capacity was not available to the grid, with more power plants on forced outages or running on reduced output.

A yellow alert indicates that available power reserves are thinning, meaning any unexpected plant outage could trigger service interruptions. A red alert indicates that the supply cannot meet the demand, raising the risk of rotational brownouts unless we manage consumption effectively. /pai
