‘Table Talks’ makes room for real conversation

Table Talks1

I had such a great time hosting the very first Table Talks earlier this week. It was one of those evenings that just felt so easy, with all our amazing food, elegant setting, overflowing champagne, music, lots of laughter, and conversations that seemed to take on a life of their own.

This is the entire point of Table Talks, the newest and most exciting experiential platform of Inquirer Property. This signature event brings together a small, carefully curated mix of thought leaders, executives, creatives, and tastemakers in highly exclusive gatherings, designed to feel more personal and engaging.

Think socials, but with a little more depth and purpose. There is still plenty of fun, but there is also time to sit down, exchange ideas, hear different perspectives, and actually get to know the people around the table beyond their place cards.

A fitting first home

For its inaugural edition, Table Talks found a fitting first home at the Shang Summit show suite in Quezon City. The evening also served as a fun kickoff to our upcoming Red Charity Gala, which will put the spotlight on fashion designer JC Buendia.

FEATURED STORIES

And can I just say, what a space to start with!

I actually loved how the show suite felt once everyone was inside. People moved around, checked out the scale model and model units, gathered around the table, laughed over the games and lingered over dinner and champagne.

You could appreciate all the design details while also getting a sense of what it might be like to actually live at Shang Summit. For a few hours, we were enjoying the show suite the way a home should be enjoyed—with people, food, music and a little bit of chaos in the best possible way.

As for Shang Summit itself, it marks Shang Properties’ first residential development in Quezon City, rising in South Triangle as a two-tower development. Its East Tower alone will offer 1,019 well-appointed residences, from studios to three-bedroom homes, with architecture by P&T Group together with CASAS + Architects, and interiors by Italian firm FM Architettura.

Simple, elegant, and very us

We also made a conscious decision not to overdo the styling.

The Shang Summit show suite already had so much character, so the idea was to let it speak for itself. We kept the setup elegant and understated, adding details that complemented the interiors.

Dinner was catered by the wonderful Happy Ongpauco-Tiu, who prepared a Spanish-inspired menu that was just right for the evening. We started with salad, cheese and charcuterie, along with tapas such as albondigas, mushrooms al ajillo and jamón croquetas, before moving on to the equally sumptuous mains: Salpicao, Iberian chicken, Seafood Paella and Porchetta. We ended it on a sweet note with some churros con chocolate.

There was a live band, too, and of course, I had to throw in a game. Guests had 10 photo tasks to complete around the Shang Summit show suite. It was an absolutely fun way to get people moving around the space and enjoying beyond the dinner table.

Even the giveaways followed the Table Talks idea. I wanted something simple and useful for the home, things guests could actually enjoy after the evening instead of another souvenir that ends up tucked away somewhere.

Thoughtful details

Those little details are important because Table Talks is not about making everything grander or more elaborate. It is about being thoughtful about what goes on the table, who gets a seat around it, and what can happen once everyone relaxes enough to really talk.

And this is only the beginning. Each edition will have its own mix of people, spaces, themes, conversations and, most likely, a game or two to keep things interesting.

If people leave with something new to think about and someone new they are genuinely glad to have met, then Table Talks will have already earned its place at the table.
