BSP flags scam using Monetary Board member’s name
MANILA, Philippines — The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) cautioned the public against scammers falsely using the name of Monetary Board member Benjamin Diokno to solicit donations for fake charitable causes.
The central bank said scammers have been sending electronic messages claiming to represent the BSP or its officials, asking recipients to donate to supposed charities.

The messages include bank account details that the scammers falsely present as belonging to legitimate charitable organizations.
The BSP said neither the institution nor its officials and employees solicit donations, sponsorships or financial assistance, nor act as intermediaries for charities.

It urged the public to ignore such requests and verify suspicious communications through official BSP channels. /pai INQ
