EastWest nets record P9.2B in 2025

MANILA, Philippines — Gotianun-led East West Banking Corp. (EastWest) saw its net income rise to a new record P9.2 billion in 2025. 

This was driven by stronger core revenues, double-digit fee income growth and tighter operational efficiency across the bank.

The latest result marked a 21-percent increase from P7.6 billion earned in 2024, which was the bank’s previous all-time high profit.

Total revenues grew 20 percent to P51 billion, supported by net interest income of P40.6 billion as interest-earning assets expanded 13 percent. 

Fee income likewise climbed 21 percent to P7.1 billion, reflecting broader revenue sources.

Operating expenses rose at a slower pace of 8 percent to P25.4 billion. This allowed pre-provision operating profit to surge 33 percent to P25.5 billion. 

This improved the cost-to-income ratio to 49.7 percent from 55.2 percent previously.

Total assets increased 10 percent to P577.1 billion, while deposits rose 13 percent to P437.8 billion. This was led by growth in low-cost current and savings accounts. INQ
