Megaworld boosts 2026 capital expenditure to P65B
MANILA, Philippines — Megaworld Corp. has raised its capital spending program to P65 billion this year as it accelerates the expansion of its township developments, with a growing focus on projects outside Metro Manila.
The P65-billion capital spending program rises the P50 billion Megaworld set aside in 2025. Last year’s budget was allocated to its real estate business, which aimed to roll out about P20 billion worth of project launches.
The company said this year’s budget will be allocated to land acquisition, strategic land banking and the development of existing projects in its portfolio as well as high-value investment properties.
Megaworld said it is positioning itself to capture growth opportunities in key provincial locations.
Provincial townships
This year, Megaworld will begin land development for several township projects in the provinces. These include Ilocandia Coastown in Ilocos Norte, The Upper Central in Cagayan de Oro City and Nascala Coast in Nasugbu, Batangas.

The company is also continuing to expand its residential, office and retail developments in its townships in Bacolod, Iloilo, Pampanga, Cavite and Palawan.

These additions are expected to support the growth of MREIT, Inc., Megaworld’s listed real estate investment trust, as more properties are lined up for potential future asset infusions.
Megaworld president and CEO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso said they see sustained growth opportunities in the office, commercial, hospitality and tourism sectors, prompting a move forward with its expansion plans.

“We are seeing opportunities ahead and we look forward to the sustained growth in the office, commercial, hospitality and tourism sectors. We are continuing our expansion program with renewed optimism as we innovate our township offerings,” Gutierrez-Alfonzo said.
“Our residential business remains a strong growth engine, especially as we introduce more pioneering projects that integrate new technologies, such as the use of artificial intelligence into our new developments,” she said.
On the residential side, Megaworld is set to launch 19 projects this year valued at a combined P65 billion.
Such developments will be located across Metro Manila and key provincial areas. These include Ilocos Norte, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Palawan, Iloilo, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro.
The company is also expanding its hospitality portfolio, with five hotels currently under construction.
These projects are expected to add about 2,000 rooms. That would bring Megaworld closer to its target of more than 9,000 hotel room keys within the next three years.
