Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI), the local and exclusive distributor of Korean automotive brand Hyundai, reported a 44-percent growth in sales in the first quarter this year after selling a total of 6,767 units compared with the 4,712 sold in the same period in 2011.
“As the Philippine economic landscape continues to move from good to great, so does consumer confidence and Hyundai’s outstanding sales performance for the first quarter. We are optimistic that this trend will extend into second quarter, with the Elantra making waves as Car of the Year for 2012, the launch of the new Hyundai EON, and our consistent brand promotion efforts,” said Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo, HARI president and CEO.
Agudo shared that for the month of March alone, HARI was able to sell 2,245 units, a huge leap when compared with the 1,633 units sold in March 2011.
Three models
She attributed the outstanding rise to the strong sales performance of passenger car models, namely the i10, Accent and the Elantra. The three models combined sales reached 4,297 units, which is a 127-percent increase when compared with the same period last year.
For the month of March alone, total passenger car sales reached 1,316 units, a 159 percent increase versus the 509 units sold in March 2011.
Such notable sales increase enabled HARI to enjoy a 37-percent sales increase in March 2012 compared with the same month last year.
