MANILA, Philippines – Traders hunting for cheap stocks lifted the bourse on Monday following last week’s sell-off.
By the end of the session, the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) had climbed by 0.67 percent, or 42.52 points, to close at 6,348.65.
Likewise, the broader All Shares Index added 0.4 percent, or 14.93 points, to end at 3,766.60.
A total of 797.02 million shares worth P5.2 billion changed hands, stock exchange data showed.
Luis Limlingan, head of sales at stock brokerage house Regina Capital Development Corp., said the PSEi recovered mainly due to bargain hunting, with traders picking up stocks that were sold off last week.
