ADB slashes growth outlook on PH amid ‘external headwinds’

MANILA, Philippines — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) trimmed its growth outlook on the Philippines for this year and next, citing “external headwinds.”

In its latest Asian Development Outlook report, the bank said the economy of its host country was forecast to grow by 5.6 percent in 2025. Its previous projection was 6 percent.

For 2026, the multilateral lender expects gross domestic product to grow by 5.8 percent. This is weaker than the old forecast of 6.1 percent expansion.
