Siquijor Island Power Corp. is fixing a second generator set.

MANILA, Philippines — The electricity provider of Siquijor, a rising tourist destination in the Visayas, said Tuesday it has activated “corrective measures” to restore supply on the island.

In a statement, Siquijor Island Power Corp. (Sipcor) said corrective maintenance for one of its units has been completed. This provides a 7,550 kilowatts or 7.55 megatts to the facility’s operating capacity.

Sipcor said another unit would undergo system fixes. A generator set was also deployed to help address supply shortage. With the ongoing repair works, Sipcor hopes to “have the power gradually restored within the week.”

“With the increasing demand brought on by the growing economic activity and rising population in the province, the area is currently experiencing a power supply deficit resulting in a rotational power outage,” it said.
