Big business group backs Marcos Cabinet reboot
management association of the philippines
MANILA, Philippines — Management Association of the Philippines, one of the country’s most influential business groups, supported President Marcos’ call for all Cabinet members to give way for a mid-term revamp.
In light of Mr. Marcos’ call for courtesy resignations to reset key leadership roles in his administration, MAP said it “underscores the value of principled leadership and accountability in driving progress and delivering meaningful results.”
In a statement signed by MAP president Alfredo Panlilio, the group said President Marcos’ actions and intentions were understandable, adding that such “difficult” call typically happens even in the business and the private sector.
“A CEO needs to make difficult calls, such as replacing talents, with the primary objective of improving the performance of the organization,” Panlilio said.
“Difficult as it may be, the call of leadership is to make such hard decisions in the interest of establishing meritocracy and encouraging performance,” he said.
Swift response
By noon time on Thursday, many of the Cabinet members, including those from the economic team, have tendered their resignation.

MAP, as a group, expressed hope that CEO of the land would “find the appropriate talents for those he decides to replace.”
Panlilio said these should be “people who can effectively execute his government’s plans.”
“We trust that capable, proactive and committed individuals will be empowered and work together as a cohesive team to execute the nation’s plans to uplift the lives of all Filipinos and move us closer to the outcomes our people deserve,” Panlilio added. – Doris Dumlao-Abadilla
