Maynilad’s Pasay water treatment facility now 82% complete
MANILA, Philippines — Maynilad Water Services Inc. said its P700-million facility in Pasay, designed to convert treated used water into drinking water, is nearing completion, with its progress rate now at 82 percent.
In a statement on Friday, the West Zone concessionaire said the water plant was on track for completion by December, boosting Maynilad’s production capacity by 12 million liters per day (MLD).
About 60,000 residents would benefit from this facility, the company said.
According to Maynilad, the facility will utilize a multi-stage treatment process that purifies used water to meet the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water set by the Department of Health.
In 2022, the firm also started operating a similar facility in Parañaque City, allowing it to provide 5 MLD of potable water to two villages. Maynilad is also working on its upgrades; however, no details on this have been disclosed yet.

‘New water’
The group said it would continue to roll out more facilities focusing on recycling used water.
“Maynilad’s NEW WATER initiative is a key part of our sustainability strategy,” said Maynilad president and chief executive officer Ramoncito Fernandez.
“It not only provides additional water supply but does so in a way that eases pressure on our traditional sources amid growing demand and the effects of climate change,” he added.

The group is the water and wastewater services provider for the West Zone, covering 17 cities and municipalities in Metro Manila and Cavite.
Investing in infrastructure
Maynilad has been heavily investing in its infrastructure, which includes more water sources, pumping stations and reservoirs, wastewater facilities, and water treatment plants.
For 2025, the company has set a plan to allot up to P39 billion in capital expenditures.
Maynilad also said in March that it would launch its initial public offering this year, with its stock market debut valued at around P49 billion.
